You should request that you don’t want an automatic renewal to occur on your account, definitely, the merchant will stop or deactivate the automatic on your account. This, will in turn stop recurring payments on a debit card or even on the credit card.
In most cases, you don’t have to contact the seller or the merchant to stop recurring payments on a debit card, but rather do it by yourself. To do so, you have to go to your account section of the merchant website, tap on billings, and right there you will see the option to cancel auto-renewal on your account.
How to stop recurring payments on PayPal
If you have a PayPal account and using it to make payments online, I will show you how to stop recurring payments on your debit card linked to your PayPal account.
So let’s get started.
Open PayPal and log in to your account. You will see your PayPal dashboard with all the payments you have made so far on your PayPal account.
To stop recurring payments on debit card or your PayPal account, look up and tap on the settings icon. You will be shown two options; your profile and account settings.
Kindly tap on account settings and scroll down to website payments. On the next page, you will see my automatic payments, kindly tap on the update button.
On the next page, tap on my pre-approved payment. Right there you will all your pre-approved payments on your PayPal account. These payments are linked to your credit or debit card.

As you see all the payments or the merchant linked to your debit card or credit card, you need to select the payments one after the other and cancel the automatic payment.
Tap on any of the merchant’s payments that states active and cancel the payment. Canceling the payment means that you won’t see a recurring payment or automatic renewal from the merchants on your debit card.

How to stop recurring payments on debit card: Xbox
If you have Xbox and Xbox subscriptions you will see that automatically it has recurring payments. In case you don’t fancy automatically renew your subscription, this is how to stop auto-renewal on your Xbox account.
Open your Xbox and tap on the controller, scroll to right and stop on the system. Tap on settings and scroll down to account. Tap on the account and move over to and tap on subscriptions.
Enter your passkey if you have one, and go to your subscriptions. On your Xbox, select your active subscription and tap on view and manage subscription. Select your browser preferably the Microsoft edge browser to continue.
Now you’re on your Microsoft account page and this is where you need to stop recurring payments on debit card and your Xbox account.
Tap on manage. Look at the screen, you will see where it states has recurring billing….. Tap on change and select turn off recurring billing.
It will ask you the question if you’re sure to turn off the recurring bill as you will lose your access to your Xbox subscription on the very day it will expire.
