What are the gtbank account types that the bank offers to their customers?
Look no further i tell you this bro or sis, cause I will give you a detailed explanation on the types of savings account in Guaranty trust bank.
This in turn will guide you through on the type of account you want to open with the bank. So all I need from you is patience, read from the beginning and until the very end of this post cause you’ll learn a lot here.
Now let’s proceed on gtbank account types.
What are gtbank account types
Guranty trust bank has three different savings account, the first is called the tier 1 savings account, the second is called the tier 2 savings account, while the third is called the tier 3 savings account.
If you go to any gtbank office to open a new bank account, or to upgrade your bank account, you’ll see the three tiers savings account I mentioned above. Definitely seeing this will get you confused until you ask questions on what the types of gtbank account are all about.
Now you have know the gtbank account types, I will take them one after the other, and explain everything bit of them.
1. Gtbank tier 1 savings account
Gtbank tier 1 account is the least savings account the bank offers to their customers, in this type of gtbank account, the limit is very high.
A very good example of the gtbank tier 1 account is the gtbank instant account. The instant account is the account you opened using your mobile phone by dialing *737# or using the bank mobile application.
I see this very gtbank account types as an emergency account cause the account isn’t impressive at all. I’m talking about the gtbank tier 1 account limit. The limit makes the account to look awful though it is a step to having a standard savings account.
The gtbank tier 1 account is limited to just N50k on a single deposit, and a maximum amount of N300k. This tells you that you can’t receive more than fifty thousand naira into your savings account, and also can’t have more than three hundred thousand naira in the bank account.
This is why I said that I see this very gtbank account types as an emergency savings account or maybe a step towards having a standard savings account in Nigeria.
In this gtbank account types, you open the account without any ID or utility bill. On your phone dial *737#, and proceed with open an account. You can also download and install the bank mobile app, and start with the account creation.
You can open the account with or without a bank verification number, and like I said, no ID or utility bill is required. If you opened the gtbank tier 1 account with a bank verification number, you should go to the bank and get yourself enrolled or registered.
Without bank verification number, you can’t withdraw your money from your bank account.
If you’re not empressed with the gtbank tier 1 account, you can move on to second and the third type of account.

2. Gtbank account types: Gtbank tier 2 account
Now is the second types of gtbank account, called the gtbank tier 2 account. Pretty much OK as the maximum account balance is quite commendable compared to the tier 1 account.
A typical example of the gtbank tier 2 account is the student account, salary account or the nysc account.
Any gtbank savings account opened in the bank is a tier 2 savings account, just like a salary account. In this type of account, you need to have your ID but no utility bill is required to open the account.
Now moving onto the limit, the gtbank tier 2 account limit. This is very popular as bank customers wants to know the limit, and if the limit is okay for them.
Now the question is;
What is gtbank tier 2 account limit?
The gtbank tier 2 savings account is limited to a single lodgment or deposit of N100k, and a maximum account balance of N500k. Again, this tells you that you can’t receive more than N100k into the account, or have more than N500k into the account.
Now you have seen why this very gtbank account types is better than the tier 1 savings account which is relatively low.
To open a gtbank tier 2 account, you must have an ID and passport. The ID is any of national ID card, permanent voter’s card, driver’s license or international passport.
Kindly note that for student account, to have a tier two savings account, you will have to provide any of the national ID card, permanent voter’s card, driver’s license or international passport. If you don’t have them, then you will be only be eligible to open a tier 1 savings account using your school ID card.

3. Gtbank tier 3 account
The last of gtbank account types is the gtbank tier 3 account, which is the best savings account you should have with the bank. Whereas, it is the standard savings account in Nigeria without limit.
A typical example of the gtbank tier 3 account is the popular GTSave savings account, which you can only open by going to the bank. You can’t open this very gtbank account types using your mobile phone, or to open it as a salary account or nysc account.
Mind you, I’m not saying you can’t use gtbank tier 3 account as your salary or nysc account. You can use it but first you must opened the account.
What is gtbank tier 3 account limit?
Straight to the account, the account is unlimited. As long as you opened the account using your ID, utility bill and a passport, there’s no limit on this very gtbank account types.
You can receive any amount of money into your gtbank tier 3 account, and also have a maximum account balance in the account. For example, you can have more than one trillion naira into the account as long as your source of income is genuine and not illegal.
To open a gtbank tier 3 account, you need to have any of the national ID card, permanent voter’s card, driver’s license or international passport, last three months utility bill and a passport.
This is the requirements according to the bank;
A signed copy of the GTSave account opening form.
A relevant means of identification (Driver’s License, International passport, National I.D Card).
One passport photograph.
Utility bill issued within the last 3 months.
The form will be given to you in the bank.
So these are the gtbank account types you’re looking for or maybe asking for. I know by now anytime you see these tier savings account, you will not get confused on how to go about it.
However, always contact the bank (Guaranty trust bank) for more information about their savings account.

Which type of gtbank account do i recommend
I recommend you to try and open a gtbank tier 3 account. Save yourself the stress of going to the bank to do an upgrade, try and have those requirements and open a standard or regular savings account.
If you don’t have an utility bill, fine you can go for a tier 2 account but be rest assured that you can’t have more than N500k in your bank account.
If maybe someone send N200k to your tier two savings account, the bank will put that on hold and will contact you to swiftly upgrade your account. If you didn’t comply with them, they will reverse the money to the original source.
This is why the tier 3 savings account is the best in any of the gtbank account types. It will not cost you anything other than having those items, and going to the bank.
Incase you have the lower tier and wants to upgrade your account for a better banking services, here’s a quick guide on how to upgrade you gtbank account.

It does but if you make any debit transaction on weekly or monthly basic, you won’t receive any interest.
Wow, thanks but does this apply to other banks?
Yes of course, to get interest from the bank you shouldn’t make a debit transaction for a maximum number of times. As long as you’re making a debit transaction, you won’t receive any interest.

You cannot do that, you must be physically present in the bank unless in the case where you’re not in Nigeria. Kindly contact gtbank for more information.

Contact the bank. Though if you opened your account using an utility bill, an ID and a passport then you opened a regular bank account which is tier 3 or level 3 account in Nigeria.
